İSTANBUL-ŞAM HAC GÜZERGÂHINDAKİ MENZİL KÜLLİYELERİNİN BAKIM VE ONARIMI (1729-1732)

İstanbul-Şam arasındaki Hac yolu, Osmanlı döneminin en önemli yollarından biriydi.

İstanbul-Şam arasındaki Hac yolu, Osmanlı döneminin en önemli yollarından
biriydi.

Abstract
The pilgrimage route between Istanbul and Damascus was one of the most importantroads in the Ottoman history. The road on the right hand of Anatolia was quite rich interms of the social foundations such as hotels, baths, caravansarais. The Ottoman stateattributed special importance to the maintenance of this road. Since the physicalconditions and the foundations of the road deteriorated and this caused difficulties to thepilgrims, towards the end of the reign of Ahmed III, some buildings in the complexis onthe road were restorated and maintained by the Istanbul goverment.During the renovation process began in 1729, first of all, official in charge ofconstructions (binâ nâzırı) and an imperial architect (hassa mimarı) were sent to detectand determine the places needed to be renovated on the road. But, because of theweakness of the central authority at that time, it was rather difficult for the two centrallynominated personnel to maintain the construction within a wide area.
