BUDİN BEYLERBEYİ SOKULLU MUSTAFA PAŞA’NIN MACARİSTAN’DAKİ HAYRATI
The Charıtıes of Mustafa Pasha of Sokolovıch, the Governor of Budın, ın Hungary

Sokullu Mehmed Paşa’nın amcazadesi olan ve önemli görevlerde
bulunan Sokullu Mustafa Paşa, iyi bir devlet adamı ve siyasetçi olmasının
yanında mert, hoşgörülü, cömert ve hayırseverdi. Bu hasletleri,
görev yaptığı Budin’de özellikle Macarlar arasında Büyük/Koca
Mustafa olarak anılmasına yol açmıştır. Başta, doğduğu yer olan Bosna
olmak üzere Macaristan’da Budin, Peşte, Kodvar, Ösek, Nemçi,
İstolni-Belgrad, Filek gibi şehirlere çeşitli eserler inşa ettirmiş, yüzlerce
gayrimenkulünü bu amaca tahsis etmiştir. Vakfiyesinde bunlara dair
son derece ayrıntılı bilgiler mevcuttur.
Kuşkusuz Mustafa Paşa’nın vakıf eser ve akarlarının büyük bir
kısmı Budin’de bulunmaktadır. Kaynaklar onu, haklı olarak Budin’i
gerçek anlamda imar eden ilk beylerbeyi olarak takdim etmiştir. Ancak
en büyük destekçisi ve hamisi olan Sokullu Mehmed Paşa’nın giderek
nüfuzunu kaybetmesiyle dengeler değişmiş, çeşitli dedikodular ve
nihayet Budin’de çıkan yangın sebebiyle suçlu bulunarak 1578 yılında
idam edilmiştir. Bugün Budapeşte’de Mustafa Paşa’nın vakıf
eserlerinden olan Rudaş ve Czasar kaplıcaları Macar halkına hizmet
vermeye devam etmektedir.

The Mustafa Pasha of Sokolovich, the son of the uncle of Mehmed Pasha of Sokolovich,apart being a capable statesman and politician, he was known to be an upright, tolerant,generous and a beneficent figure, which acquired him a good reputation and caused himto be called Grand Mustafa in Budin, among the Hungarians, in particular. In his nativecountry of Bosnia, in the first place, he had different charities (waqfs) founded in variouscities such as Budin, Peşte, Kodvar, Ösek, Nemçi, İstolni-Belgrad and Filek, which wereall financed by his hundreds of real estates. Thanks to his waqfiyye, one can get detailedinformation on the number these works of waqf and the personnel employed therein.It is obvious that the majority of these works are to be located in Budin. The sourcesimply that he is rightfully the real first governor of Budin to reconstruct the city entirely.But losing the support of his principal promoter and protector Mehmed Pasha ofSokolovich, things have changed quickly, and he was found guilty of a fire in the city,accompanied by other accusations charged against him, which resulted in his execution in1578. His works of waqf, those of the Spa baths of Rudas and Czasar, are still in use inBudapest.
